Asked about Petrucci recently saying he's open to the reunion idea, Rudess commented
"I recently had a little musical experience with my old friend Mike Portnoy; we were talking about it. I hadn't played with him in, like, nine years, I think, so it was kind of fun getting together and banging one of the old pieces.
"It was that period of time when it was a little bit rough for everybody, but yeah, we were talking about it, it would be something really fun to do.
"I would love to do that, it's a matter of scheduling, everybody's really busy; I mean, Mike himself has how many bands - I lost count - and we're so busy. I'm so busy in our world.
"But to get to the point, I think it's gonna happen, but we don't have it in the schedule yet."
meanwhile Petrucci said he was open for a reunion, saying on The Everyman Podcast:

"It's not something that we really have been talking about too much because we're so busy and we have a tour coming up, but we're all friends, we're all in touch and open for that, so I'm sure that's something that everybody would love to do at some point."
